The World Of The Arts Today!

Whenever we see an artist that is sucessful we believe it is because he is extremely talented or that it is what he was born to do. We cannot imagine the struggle, sacrifices and hard work it took to be where he is. But what with the people that do not ‘make’ it? Are they less of an artist?

Studies have shown that over 3% of the population started an art-oriented education. Every 200000 of these ‘students’ only result in 64 artists making a living out of their art. And still this often means having no family life and sacrifices all the way through. Imagine an actor being on a diet for the rest of his life.

In the 80`s a lot of people had access to promoters and publishers helping them land gigs but today even getting those people to help is very rare, it became an even tougher business the last 20 years. And there is little to no information found on this. Talentshows are moneymakers only working again for a happy few simply because there is no budget to look for talent. But every ‘The Voice’ or ‘America`s Got Talent’ has thousands and thousands of people applying. As a trained musician, I want to underline the talent of these people that get discovered but it is remarkable that these shows get you noticed a lot faster sometimes than when you studied for all your life.

We have no problem paying a plumber when he comes and fixes the toilet, but hey we made our hobby into our job so why would we need to get paid? It is time for a new hashtag, the #metoostronger! Of course the #metoo brought to attention a lot of negative aspects of our jobs as artists, but what about the rest? Culture shows that society is doing good, is doing great, still budgets are cut everywhere. If for every opportunity out there we would get paid accordingly we might not care so much for the budgets being cut, or am I wrong?

So this is a call to all of you! Artists, Fans, Audiences, Bookers,… We need to get stronger! Let’s make the arts great again!

Bill Pidgley has a stunning country voice!

Watching Netflix and “Chesapeake Shores” it made me wonder what the country-scene is really like. Of course Trace Riley has it all but being from Belgium, we had our share after “Broken Circle Breakdown” but can we ever get enough country music?

So my search led me to Bill Pidgley from London a single dad with an incredible voice. Singing since he was 3, he has a lot of experience. It makes people turn heads and gets them impressed by his extraordinary vocals! What a voice, what a talent. Buy his 4-cd box on Ebay. And watch this Video!

Future Of The Arts

When we look at the internet, we are amazed at how many young talented artists embark on a road toward a future as an artist. One of the biggest problems is marketing for these young people. Where you used to sell yourself in your own city, people now embark on an adventure selling themselves in the entire world from day one. Marketeers are screaming that one should use 100% of ones time reaching as much people as possible.

I doubt this is the actual start. The biggest problem for the artist is self-promotion. We do not dare to do this anymore but it is the start of everything. Talk to your own network close to home and convince them to buy your art or even book you as an artist. Use whatever buzz you created to take it a step further, raise awareness and grow and learn.

Artists get the tools they need

Why did we build TamTamTools and why would we go to such lengths for our members? Well we believe that art should be taken to the next level to enable a future. One year ago today we started building this platform and today we are proud of the work done and looking forward to what it might become for the future. We are looking to help artists achieve what they want to achieve. We are a one-stop-shop for publicity, marketing and over 20 other tools! www.tamtamtools.com

Iris Hendrickx French Opera Arias

This is a very attractive record. Hendrickx sings cleanly in well-articulated French and tackles a wide range of soprano arias, in all of which she is able to stand comparison with great figures of the present and the past. Maestro Patrick Fournillier leads the La Verdi Orchestra with passion, thus enabling this live recording to submit yet another calling card for an emerging artist. Having worked with Juan-Diego Florez, Anna Netrebko and Joseph Calleja, might Iris be the next in line?

We hope so! Working with this repertoire for more than two years to tackle these demanding, sought after roles, Mme Hendrickx is on her way to what might be the discovery of next season. This album is published by Centaur Records.

Spotlight on Armando Cabba

Today TamTamTools wants to talk about the remarkable art of Armando Cabba, a Canadian artist currently based in Paris with his own independent gallery/studio. With a Painting and Drawing degree from Concordia University in Montreal, he moved to Florence for a few years where he began to evolve into the artist he is today. The focus of all his works and his main influence are the people in his life and his environment. Like Picasso and other masters before him, it was only natural for this young artist to call Paris his home. His primary medium is painting and over the previous couple of years he has been exploring the idea of identity and the temporary self through his series of self portraits. Each painting is a recording of Cabba’s state of mind which depicts a short term persona. “Our emotions can reoccur but how we experience them can never be duplicated” says Armando. In our world woven together with social media, Cabba believes it’s important to explore and depict the more “unflattering” side of human emotion. “Life isn’t always sunshine, rainbows, and Instagram filters. There are dark and negative emotions we all experience. It’s normal and makes us human, so why aren’t we talking about them more?” Like many others out there, we cannot wait to see what new work Cabba has in store for us.
